Obituary of Susanne Grace Bucyk

Obituary Susanne Grace Bucyk, 80, entered eternal peace on July 25, 2019. Susanne was born on December 11, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to Claude and Susie Whitlock. She is now reunited and at peace with her beloved husband Joe, daughter Sandra, and siblings Howard, Bud, Lee, Jean, Elizabeth, Shirley and Bill. As a Wife, Susanne was devoted to her husband Joe for 60 years. Her love for Joe epitomized loyalty, dedication and the gift of friendship between two individuals who were uniquely different but solidly bound by love and family. She was extremely patriotic and supportive of Joe in his work in the American Legion, and she too, volunteered in the American Legion Auxiliary. As Kahlil Gibran said, “you were born together, and together you shall be forevermore. You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days.” Susanne and Joe’s love and friendship for each other will exist for eternity and has always served as an example and inspiration to her loving son and daughter, Kenneth and Anna Lee. In addition to Kenneth and Anna Lee, Susanne will be forever loved and remembered by her daughters-in-law Diane (Miller) and Linda (Weitzman), and her most precious gifts, her grandchildren Hannah, Cayleigh, Michael and Matthew Bucyk, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Susanne always referred to Diane, Anna Lee, Linda and her niece Virginia as her very special “earth angels” and yet, as Lincoln said, “all that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother.” Susanne’s life was a testimony to her individual strength, resolve, compassion and kindness. Although she suffered a stroke at age 29 and lost two children, “nevertheless, she persisted,” and never lost her ability to love, forgive, have faith or inspire compassion in others. So proper and fitting that her chosen middle name was Grace. Susanne loved social media and never missed an opportunity to opine about politics or any other subject. Her Facebook feed was full of rescue animals, angels, wine memes, political statements and of course, her beloved birds-especially cardinals. Rest assured, she has been given a phone and internet with unlimited data now. Susanne’s love and support of animals was extraordinary and she will be missed by her two furry “therapy cats” Missy Mew (21 years old!) and Mamma Kitty; along with her other furry companions Forrest, Oreo, Cameo and Isabella. A memorial service to celebrate Susanne’s life will be held in the near future and all friends and family will be contacted at that time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susanne’s memory to www.rescuemetucson.org , a tax-deductible, non- profit established to provide our community with compassionate alternatives to pet stores that sell mill-bred puppies and kittens or Honor Flight Tucson, which provides WWII, Vietnam and Korean War Veterans the opportunity to see their national memorials in Washington D.C. https://honorflightsaz.org/ .
