Obituary of Gary Dean Quick

Obituary Gary Dean Quick passed away unexpectedly March 4, 2019, at home in Tucson. He was 78. Born in Atchison, Kansas, he was the son of Russel Dean Quick and Geraldine Rose Jones Quick. He and his sister, Linda, grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. Gary had limited interest in classroom learning, but he could do anything with his hands. He served seven years in the U.S. Air Force as a flight engineer and jet engine mechanic, and worked for many years as an electric company lineman. He also owned a pet supply and grooming business and became a skillful dog groomer. In retirement he was employed as a professional stained glass restorer, as well as creating new glasswork. In perhaps his favorite job, he was a motorhome transporter. With his first wife, Janet V. Quick, he had two children, whom he loved deeply, Jacqueline Tracy Butler and Trevor Dean Quick. He later married Lynn Brown and loved her two daughters, Jennifer Lynn Yanez and Elizabeth Ann Bell, as if they were his own. He is survived by Lynn, their four children, five grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, his sister and his brother-in-law, W. Russ Elgin, of whom he was especially fond. Gary had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a wide circle of friends in the purebred dog world, as well as many friends from his work and Westport High School, where he played football. He was a member of the Arizona Whippet Club, the Great Dane Club of Tucson, Madera Canyon Kennel Club, Cañada del Oro Kennel Club, and Elks Lodge 2532. Celebrations of his life are planned for Tucson and Kansas City this spring. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Gary Dean Quick, please visit our floral store.
