Obituary of Betty Jean Martinez

MARTINEZ, Betty Jean, age 82, of Tucson Arizona, passed away at her home Saturday, January 29, 2022.

Betty was born in Tucson on June 15, 1939 to Julio Herrera and Ruth Vega. She attended Pueblo High School in 1956 when the school first opened and graduated with her AA from Pima Community College. She was with her husband, Hector R. Espinoza, for 35 years. She was married to Larry L. Martinez from 1958 to 1976. Betty was a member of the Federal Order of Eagles (FOE), and an active member of Sacred Heart Church. At the FOE she helped organize regular member dinners and organized her family’s annual Christmas Party.

She is preceded in death by her son Alfred L. Martinez, her husband Hector R. Espinoza, and her mother Ruth Vega.

Betty is survived by her sons Lawrence D. Martinez and Hector R. Espinoza II; her brothers Jimmy and Steve Martinez, and sisters Joan Marquez, Olga Castro, and Martha Vineyard; her eight grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren; her dog Chiwee; and her many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held Thursday, March 3rd at 12pm at Sacred Heart Church.
